OES is extremely fortunate to have an excellent library with a collection of over 16,000 volumes for student and parent use. It is important for parents to know that:

  • All students have a book exchange period with their teacher each week.

  • Students may take out 2 books for a one-week loan period.
     

Students acquire library search skills with emphasis on using the computer catalogue and locating fiction and non-fiction resources. Our library technician Ms. Leydon is available to assist students throughout the day. Parent volunteers also help make our Library a special place.

Parents who are coming to school to pick up their children at the end of the day are welcome to come early and read with their pre-schoolers in the Library. We also encourage parents to choose books to take home. Feel free to ask Ms. Leydon about information on books they think their children would be interested in.

Read-it-Now! "Check-out" Student Digital Books.  We're excited about our first venture into this kind of publishing.  You can read, right online some special editions created for the 2011 Grade Two Author Celebration.  Just visit the OES Catalogue, type in "Read-it-now" and click on the "Series" Button.  Note: The books will download right onto your home computer.
